BPO India: More than just Software
Development and Call Centers
BPO India:
The Beginning
When we first
really started
hearing about
Outsourcing
about 5-10 years
ago . . . what's
the first thing
that came to
your mind? I
thought of my
car loan with GE
Capital. Every
time I called
the customer
service center I
would hear a
clear English
speaking agent .
. . with an
accent.
Also, I would
hear a little
beep every few
seconds as if
they were
recording the
calls . . .
which they
probably were.
Anyway, that's
the classic view
of outsourcing
in many people's
minds. You call
for customer
support; whether
it's for your
computer, car
loan, or some
other IT
helpdesk related
call and you get
someone with an
Indian accent on
the other line.
However, there
are a lot more
services that
companies have
sent to India .
. . and these
are turning from
non-core to core
business
processes.
BPO India:
US Accounting
and Tax Services
Wait, how can a team in India that's not even based in the US handle
our accounting
and corporate
tax filings here
in America?
That's a good
question . . .
let's see how
BPO India is
doing it! This
falls into KPO
(Knowledge
Process
Outsourcing)
where the
outsourcing
personnel are
specialized in a
certain area and
are contributing
their knowledge
to create the
best solution
for your
organization.
They are no
longer doing a
repetitive task,
rather they are
making decisions
that will
directly affect
your bottom
line.
The KPO experts
in India study
US accounting
rules and
regulations as
any CPA would do
here in the US.
Once the expert
in India
completes his /
her studies they
will take the
Uniform
Certified Public
Accountant
Examination.
Once they pass
the
certification
tests they are a
certified public
accountant
according to US
law.
BPO India now
provides a
knowledgeable
member to your
accounting team
that can save
you money,
recommend cost
savings /
benefits when
filing, and make
sure you are
taking advantage
of every tax
break available
to your
organization.
Not to mention,
they are saving
you on lower
costs to perform
their CPA
services. Some
organizations
have outsourced
a major chunk of
their accounting
functions
overseas.
BPO India:
Nursing
Consulting and
Placement
Services
I'm sure we all
know by now that
the top two
countries for
recruiting
foreign nurses
are from India
and the
Philippines. BPO
India has a very
systematic
approach to
having nurses
from overseas
start practicing
in the states to
make an
immediate impact
here in the US.
BPO India:
A quick overview
of the Nursing
Placement
Process:
Usually the BPO
provider will
have a training
and recruitment
center in India
that preps all
of the aspiring
nurses before
taking any
certification
and language
exams required
for immigration
to the US. All
qualified
candidates will
have a B.Sc. or
Diploma in
Nursing, a
current nursing
license from
their home
country, 1 year
of acute care
experience and
fluency English,
and active
nursing licenses
which allow them
to practice in
the United
States.
Either BPO India
will have a
medical
recruiter in the
US to conduct
over the phone /
face to face
interviews, or
the US medical
facility will
have their own
recruiter to
pre-screen the
nurses from
overseas.
All of the
nurses from
overseas must
complete the
CGFNS
Certification
program which
ensures that any
nurse that is
educated in
countries other
than the United
States are
eligible and
qualified to
meet licensure
and other
practice
requirements in
the U.S.
An Indian nurse
can live and
work in the U.S.
permanently with
an employment
based third
preference
immigrant visa
(Green Card).
Once a
healthcare
facility
sponsors a nurse
for the Green
Card, he or she
can arrive in
the US and start
working in 8-12
months. BPO
India can also
sponsor nurses
for immigrant
visas, which
reduces the time
that facilities
have to wait for
nurses to
arrive.
BPO India:
Conclusion
Business Process
Outsourcing has
evolved over the
last few years.
It is moving
from the
traditional
outsourcing,
such as billing,
admin, customer
service . . . to
Knowledge Based
Outsourcing,
such as
litigation,
business
intelligence,
R&D, and the
examples given
in this article.
This has created
a new way of
thinking when it
comes to
outsourcing
overseas.
Now, operations
in India are
making key
decisions that
will potentially
drive growth and
help shape an
organization's
future here in
the US. This
kind of
Knowledge based
outsourcing will
add tremendous
value to the
entire BPO
industry. BPO
India is no
longer as simple
as doing
repetitive tasks
. . . it is
becoming a very
effective way
for US
businesses to
expand their
entire
operations
globally.
